   MARTYN GREEN

PORT LECTURER & DESTINATION LECTURER

Travel Writer and Photographer

Born and educated in the Yorkshire Dales in England, Martyn has been travelling since the day he joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice at sixteen. Now a travel arcticle writer and photographer with the International Press Association, he has lectured about ships’ destinations on five world cruises and on numerous shorter voyages on six continents, seven if you include Antarctica.

His richly illustrated presentations, which have on average 200 photographs, will give an insight to the history and the daily life in the countries the ship will visit. He will introduce you to places of interest in the ports of call, most within easy distance of the ship.

The RAF took Martyn to stations in Hong Kong, Singapore,Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. He worked for twelve months as an Announcer [DJ] and Programme Producer on ‘Radio Gan’.  Returning to England, he made a couple of television appearances – including an acting role on Yorkshire Television’s ‘Cluff of the Dale’s – before joining British Airways (then BOAC) which gave him chance to travel the globe.

Taking a break from travel he settled down – at least for a few years – and ran a number of successful businesses in the frozen food industry.

Retiring from business early, he now spends his time on cruise ships, photographing the world, and passing on information and sharing his photographs and knowledge with cruise ship passengers. He was privileged to be asked to be the Destination Lecturer on the QE2's 'Final Voyage' from Southampton to Dubai. A DVD of this voyage is now available, along with various other DVD's such as 'A Transit of the Panama Canal' - 'Saga Ruby World Cruise' [2006-2007] & 'Saga Ruby Around South America' [2008]. For details use the 'Contact Martyn' facilty.

Martyn now has a collection of over 200 'Ports of Call' as Power Point® Presentations. Each has around 200 photographs, diagrams and maps. The lectures can be geared to last half an hour, forty five minutes or a full hour depending on the customer requirement. He is quite used to working as part of the Shore Excursions Team, though some companies prefer the two to remain independant. Some like subliminal mentions of the tours within the lecturers.
