MY 'YOU-TUBE' VIDEO :- [How time flies, this video is already four years old!!] Click the link :-
I have been an avid traveller for over fifty years, visiting over 130 countries whilst serving with the Royal Air Force, British Airways and on vacations. Over the last seventeen years I have given Destination Lecturers and Travel Talks for fifteen different cruise companies, sailing on forty five different cruise ships, some over a dozen times. My large collection of richly illustrated lectures, covering all continents, have between 150 & 200 photographs covering the local features of the destination, the countries structure, culture, tradition and cuisine. A brief history of the country, region or city is covered, along with details of museums & galleries, often closing with amusing local peculiarities, anecdotes, or folk tales.
I have been involved in eleven World Cruises, on several making the full voyage, giving up to forty lectures.
Apart from the dozens of Destination Lectures I have, for those long ocean crossings, a selection of travel related lectures, here are just a few examples:-
‘Great Feats of Engineering – The Panama Canal’ [The history, building, transit, new locks 2016]
‘Great Feats of Engineering – The Suez Canal’ [The history, building, transit, new sections 2015]
‘The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’
‘From the Rise to the Demise of the world’s only Supersonic Airliner, Concorde’
A SERIES OF LECTURES ON LONDON
‘The City of London, the Square Mile’ - 'The Palace of Westminster' - ‘The City of Westminster’ - 'Buckingham Palace' - 'The Tower of London' - 'Kensington Palace' 'Hampton Court Palace' - 'Windsor Castle'
I was privileged to be the Destination Lecturer on the ‘Final Voyage of the Queen Elizabeth 2’ in October 2008, and again, on the ‘Maiden Voyage’ of the new Queen Elizabeth in 2010. I covered the Maiden Baltic Voyage on Cunards Queen Victoria. I was destination Lecturer on the 'New Maiden Voyage' of the re-fitted Grand Princess. On some ships I work as part of the Shore Excursions Team. Some companies prefer me to remain separate from the tours operation, some like me to subliminally include tour details within a presentation. I take a flexible approach, with talks of thirty to sixty minutes.
I also have a number of presentations that are not destination specific for those multiple sea days on extended cruises and world cruises, with titles such as ‘The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’, ‘Fifty Places to See Before you Stop Cruising’, ‘Fifty Places You Should Visit In Great Britain’, 'The City of London - The Square Mile', 'The City of Westminster', 'The Rise and Fall of Concorde', '60 Landmarks you really must visit' [A full list is on another page of this website, along with totals by region of my Destination/Port Talks]
I have done assignments for magazines, cruise companies, shore excursions departments, visiting Ports of Call to check out and evaluate new tours, taking photographs and timings to enable brochures to be produced.
I have made contributions to a UK Based FM Radio Station [Drystone Radio] with Travel orientated talks, with occasional 'Live' reports from various ports of call from wherever I am in the world.
I have given presentations to lunch and evening clubs, travel and educational groups at many UK locations.
PLEASE LOOK AT MY PHOTOGRAPHS - EACH OF MY LECTURES HAVE UP TO 200 QUALITY PHOTO'S.
